May 22nd 2015 will see the release of The Cobbler - a comedy by the one and only, Adam Sandler. Yes, that's right, Sandler is releasing a film about Cobblers, set in New York, USA - the film is about fixing shoes and the life of a cobbler, unfortunately it will star Sandler, so depending on your stance on the actor, I will predict it being unfunny and a little awkward. Push expectations aside, the film does aim to depict the independent repairer and include the hardships of competition and a traditional trade facing difficult times in a modern society.
Did I mention the magic shoes? No? Well here is the IMDB synopsis
"Max Simkin repairs shoes in the same New York shop that has been in his family for generations. Disenchanted with the grind of daily life, Max stumbles upon a magical heirloom that allows him to step into the lives of his customers and see the world in a new way. Sometimes walking in another man's shoes is the only way one can discover who they really are."
Sound awful? Or are you excited to see it? Let us know your thoughts on the film - I'm sure if we made a British version that starred Harry Hill we would see an entirely different story.
Can't be as awful as that 50 Shades of Grey film though, right? I wonder what 50 Shades of Cobblers would... never mind.
